Psalm 71:16 IN SEARCH

“We all need love, but we need it most when we deserve it least — when we have sinned against someone; when we have made poor choices; when we have failed. In these situations, ordinary love must become extra-ordinary love.”

Worldwide, less than 2% of all deaf people  know Jesus,
making them the largest unreached people group in the world.

In order to make the Bible accessible to every person on earth, Finishing The Task
is committed to speeding up the work of Bible translation. While this has traditionally meant the work of translating the full Bible into the written languages of the Unengaged, Unreached People Groups (UUPGs), this work now also includes making the entire Bible accessible to oral communicators and to the community of the Deaf People Groups— those who access the Bible in their “heart language” of signing.

Worldwide, less than 2% of all deaf people know Jesus, making the deaf community the largest unreached people group in the world. In December 2019, the FTT Deaf
Coalition was established to raise awareness about the Deaf community and their unique Bible needs. With the establishment of the Deaf Coalition in addition to FTT’s continued focus on the broader oral culture groups, FTT is committed to developing a focused strategy to make the full Bible available to these people groups as part of the goal to provide a Bible for everyone, everywhere.

When reading the Bible, it’s important to remember that it wasn’t just dropped out of heaven to us. It was written by real people with unique backgrounds and personalities, and God used them to communicate his word to his people. So, who were the authors of the New Testament books?

Many of the books tell us exactly who wrote them, such as the letters of Paul, James, and Peter, for example. The Gospels are technically anonymous, but the earliest testimony of the church indicates who wrote them. The book of Hebrews is the only one whose author is unknown.

Here is a revolving DAILY bio for each of the New Testament authors, beginning with...

1. Matthew ||| IN THE WORD |||

Matthew was one the 12 original apostles and thus an eyewitness to the ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Matthew, who was also called Levi, was a Jew who lived in Capernaum. He worked for the Romans as a tax collector, which means he was a rather shady businessman who would’ve been despised by his fellow Jews. In fact, he was working at his tax booth when Jesus called him to follow him (Mark 2:13).
